Congratulations to Alison and Jan Schutt, Founders of Stationery Aid on being recognised with the 2026 Mayor’s Community Spirit Award.

 

Through their grassroots charity, Stationery Aid, Alison and Jan have made a significant and lasting contribution to the community. Their innovative circular economy model collects, sorts, renews and redistributes surplus school stationery, ensuring essential learning resources reach students experiencing disadvantage.

To date, Stationery Aid has supported more than 3,800 students who may otherwise have struggled to access the supplies needed to fully participate in their education. At the same time, their commitment to environmental sustainability has diverted more than 82 tonnes of usable school stationery from landfill.

Driven by a belief that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, engage and thrive, Alison and Jan continue to make a meaningful difference to families across the City of Moreton Bay. Their dedication, compassion and community leadership are helping create brighter educational outcomes while reducing waste and promoting a more sustainable future.
